We help people realise their life’s ambitions and move beyond simply coping with their short-term financial responsibilities. We do this not only by understanding all aspects of financial planning, but also by appreciating the simple truth that everyone is different. We help people see their wealth as the key to a life that is planned for and continues to evolve over time – as lives tend to.

Piercefield Oliver is a Chartered and Accredited Financial Planning Firm with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). We manage all aspects of financial planning and wealth management for individuals and families. We are Independent Financial Advisers (IFA) offering whole of market advice for investments, savings, Inheritance tax, protection, trust planning, long term care, retirement and pension planning.

Louise Oliver is a financial professional member of Resolution, a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues involving the breakdown of your marriage in a constructive way.

Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire on the edge of the Cotswolds, we serve clients both locally and further afield.

Frequently Asked Questions

Financial Planning looks at where you are now and where you want to get to by managing your current and future financial resources effectively. It can also consider the financial consequences of an unplanned event or catastrophe, for example, long-term illness, injury or premature death and how this could impact your future plans. Financial Planning helps you make informed decisions on how best to spend, manage or invest your money and lessens the chances of remorse of not doing something you should have done to make your life easier. Financial Planning will help you focus on personal goal setting as well as dealing with shorter-term needs and objectives.

A Financial Plan will assess your inflows and outflows and critique any prior or current planning, products or investments you have purchased in the past. Your Plan will identify any potential shortcomings in your current arrangements which are likely to impede you in maintaining or achieving your desired lifestyle. The outcomes from your Plan will aid decisions on changes needed to your existing arrangements, for example, mitigating tax, matching your attitude to risk to savings & investments, future pension funding for retirement, protecting yourself and the family in the event of a catastrophe, ensuring your Will is up to date and your Estate will be distributed in accordance with your wishes.

Financial planning is a dynamic process and your Plan should not be something that is read once and then filed away and forgotten. We will help you review your Plan from time to time and to update it to take account of changed circumstances.

In the same way that a business will rely upon a Financial Director to create budgets and forecasts to help the business grow and prosper, we act in a similar capacity but for the individual. It is important that when you build a Plan any forecasts are based on assumptions that are reasoned and reasonable and reflect any external factors, be they economic, legislative or product specific, otherwise it becomes merely guess work.

Within our team we have individuals who are qualified as Certified Financial Planners (CFP). The CFP certification is recognised globally as the gold standard for financial planning professionals. We therefore have the expertise necessary to build a robust Financial Plan for you.

Regulated financial advice is more objective-driven and will focus on targeted needs, for example, to make use of personal tax allowances before the tax year end with a pension contribution or investment into an Individual Savings Account (ISA). Financial Advice will address the suitability of the transaction and which product is best placed to satisfy the objective. As Independent Financial Advisers (IFA) we are able to recommend ‘Whole of Market’ products and we are not restricted to a panel.

No. We are able to tailor financial planning according to your personal needs and circumstances.

Building trust with your financial planner is important and sometimes this can take a little time. To start with however, ask:

  • Do I need to buy a product from you to pay for your time?
  • What services can you offer me?
  • Is your advice Independent or restricted?
  • Do you require a minimum amount of investment to take me on as a client?
  • Are there any barriers or exit penalties if I decide to dispense with your services later on?
  • What are your professional qualifications?
  • How many clients do you look after?
  • Do you have service standards?
  • Will I get to know other members of your team?

In short, as much as possible! The more we know about you the more focused and specific we can be with the financial planning advice we give you.

We will gather both hard and soft facts from you. The former is your financials and if necessary we can help you gather this providing you give us the authority to approach relevant providers. The latter are facts about you, your family, what are your life’s intentions, your happy place, and what you want to do.

We try and make it as easy and secure as possible to exchange confidential information, which we can do via an encrypted portal. If this isn’t for you we can use the more traditional methods of email and posting.

We may be smaller than some of our peer group but that can be an advantage in that you are not just a number to us. Our team approach ensures everyone gets to know you with varying degrees of input so you don’t need to reintroduce yourself every time you make contact with us.

Amongst the team we have higher levels of qualification than the base level required by the regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to give advice. Having attained both Chartered and Certified qualifications and accreditation for financial planning and wealth management, we have the necessary expertise to give you the quality of advice you require.

Subject to your specific planning or advice needs we are open and transparent about the fees we will charge you.

Some of our clients have very kindly written Google reviews about how we have helped them, so what better way to show why you should choose us.

We offer an initial meeting at our expense, either on Zoom, by phone or you are welcome to visit us at our office in Cheltenham.

No. We have clients across the UK and contact has been made easier through the use of technology such as Zoom to facilitate ‘Face-to-Face’ meetings. When possible we will try and facilitate an in-person get-together either at our office or at your home or place of work.
